"All Balls Racing" Tapered Steering Head Bearings Install
Tapered bearings in the steering head make a huge improvement in front end feedback and "feel" and is a great upgrade for these older bikes. Here's my install of the "All Balls" tapered steering head bearings.
This is the first stage of the front end swap from the stock '77 CB750K to a '76 GL1000 front end. You can see the GL front end and wheel in the first picture leaning agains the shelves. Also, that's the nose of "Blackjack", my '78 Porsche 911 SC in the background.
First step is to get the bike on a jack stand and off with the wheel.

Huh, that grease only looks 25 years old, not 34...
The stock ball bearings see the light of day for the first time in 34 years!
The CB750 steering stem in the background, with the GL1000 steering stem in the foreground, ready for the All Balls tapered roller bearing race to be installed.
Hydraulic jack handle was the perfect race installation tool!
Upper and lower races were kept in the freezer for a few hours so that they could be installed into the frame easily.
The steering head is all set with the tapered roller bearings greased and installed. It's now ready for the GL1000 front end.
